The Ward 7 councilmember talks to Downtown Voices about her priorities for the City amidst a very busy first two years in office and her quest for four more.

A conversation with Katie Cashman, who's running for reelection to the Minneapolis City Council, as we ride our bikes through Uptown and the lakes neighborhoods of Ward 7.

These two agreements will hold utilities accountable for carbon emissions and set expectations for equitable service for low-income Minneapolis neighborhoods.

“These neighborhoods and these buildings have been vacant for a long time,” said Minneapolis Council member Katie Cashman. “So, I’m really happy that the city this year decided to invest in artists as a strategy to fill vibrant storefronts.”

Civic leaders say such developments, often costly and complicated projects, are key to downtown’s future.

The contract includes historic raises, amounting to 21.7% over three years, and will make Minneapolis police among the top five highest-paid in the state.
